What is Activated Carbon?

Activated carbon is a material created through the alteration of a carbonaceous material such as coal, coconuts, wood and lignite. The raw charcoal is processed into activated carbon through controlled thermal and physical modification. This process creates small, low volume pores where adsorption can take place enabling activated carbon to act as a purification tool.
